St. Mark is located at 675 N. Mulford Rd. in Rockford, IL. On Sundays, you can enter the building from almost any door, but your best bet for worship is the west entrance facing Mulford Road. At 9:00 a.m. we worship in the Sanctuary and at 11:00 a.m. we worship in Fellowship Hall for our Praise Service. During the summer months, we meet outdoors at 11:00 on the East Lawn for worship. Ushers wearing red lanyards will welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
Our services are rooted in the Lutheran tradition of Word and Sacrament. Liturgy is sung, scripture is read, the pastors preach, and Holy Communion is celebrated at every Sunday service. Each is unique in its own way.
All our worship services typically last about 60 minutes.
Folks at St. Mark tend to dress casually. However you choose to present yourself, do what feels natural and comfortable for you to engage meaningfully in worship.
Music is one way we express our gratitude and commitment to God's love. At all our services there is plenty of opportunity to worship God through music. Feel free to sing along, reflect on the lyrics, or simply listen to the chorus of worshipers around you.
One way our members worship is by giving an offering as they feel moved to do so. Money received in this way supports our ministry at St. Mark, in Rockford, and throughout the world. Guests should not feel obligated to participate, as we want you to feel comfortable during your visit.
We celebrate Holy Communion at every service. Everyone is welcome at the table. Those who prefer a blessing can simply cross their arms over their chest as they come forward.
Absolutely! Children are welcome at all of our services, and everyone is encouraged to make a joyful noise to God.
Our Nursery remains closed at this time, but when it is open we provide nursery care all morning long. To find the Nursery, simply exit the back of the Sanctuary and walk down the hallway. The Nursery will be on your right. You can always ask for assistance from anyone wearing a red or yellow lanyard.
A Quiet Room is provided in the back of the Sanctuary for nursing mothers and others who wish to attend to their young children's needs without leaving worship. For additional needs, a Family Restroom is located near Common Grounds Cafe.
At St. Mark, the Communion feast extends beyond the confines of worship and into our common life together. Between our services, we like to catch up with one another as we enjoy coffee and donuts. Some of us like to mingle in the Fellowship Hall while others like to settle into a more relaxed atmosphere in Common Grounds Cafe, located on the southeast side of the building.
Sunday school meets weekly from 10:05 - 10:55 a.m. Sunday School for children 3 years old through 6th grade takes place in the lower level. Guests are always welcome! Sunday School is from September - May.
